I have made strings for this bow at 1" intervals from 44" to 49", mounted them and retuned the cables and bow. I have no indication that the string that came on the bow previously was the correct length. The good news is that the thick old amateur paint did protect the original Bear surface underneath. Every month or so I would pick up a green piece, and painstakingly and carefully remove the rough paint. I purchased it with a heavy coat of hand-applied green and tan camo. ![]() It took me three years to restore this beauty. Does anyone have a Bear chart (or a matching bow they can measure) for the exact factory bowstring length for a vintage Bear 4-Wheel Magnum (ser.3 5-MA-05964)? This is the version with the ratchet cable take-up drums, wood limbs, and black metal riser.
